Therapies

Stepping Puzzlers Learning Center also provides therapy services for children who find it difficult to cope with any aspect of their everyday life. Through targeted intervention, our experienced therapists work alongside the parents to alleviate concerns. We offer the following therapeutic services at our center:

Sensory Motor and Remedial Training
(SMART):

Developed by Mrs. Sridevi Prasad (Founder of Shankar Foundation), SMART is a research backed programme that works on children and different sensory challenges they show. Sensory Motor abilities cut through all developmental domains. It is proved that working through these senses helps improve processing strategies in the brain, enabling the child to actively engage with the environment than respond passively to it.

Working on 8 different senses: Auditory, Visual, Tactile, Proprioception, Gustatory, Olfactory, Vestibular and Interoception, SMART Programme also aims to strengthen conceptual learning in children by pairing learning with activities that involve these different senses. It is known to be the most beneficial to children between the age of 4 to 10, but it can also be modified to use for children above 10 years of age if they display any sensory challenges.

Occupational Therapy:

Occupational Therapy or OT is a form of therapy commonly used with children showing difficulties in motor skills, sensory processing, sitting tolerance, hyperactivity and more. OT strengthens the child’s motor skills, reduces the occurrence of sensory issues and increases their sitting tolerance by enhancing concentration. This helps them independently perform their daily activities and self-care which significantly contributes to their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment.

Speech Therapy:

Speech Therapy is used with children that display challenges in expressive and receptive communication, swallowing disorders and speech delays. Speech Therapists work on different exercises that help strengthen muscles in the mouth, conduct speech drills to improve clarity of speech and even sound production practice to improve articulation.

Behaviour Therapy:

Behaviour Therapy or BT is commonly used with children to reduce the occurence of tantrums, ignorance towards following instructions, violent behaviour and to help enhance social skills, learning skills, adaptive behaviours, communication skills, attention and memory.

Negative behaviours are often a result of issues in sensory processing or certain environmental triggers. Identifying these challenges and helping the child navigate through them is the core of BT. This is done with the help of several behaviour modification techniques that are an amalgamation of different schools of thought like ABA, CBT and REBT.
